Legally Required
The WAB course is mandatory for all new category B licence holders in Switzerland. It must be completed within 12 months of passing your test.

Choose between Pfäffikon ZH (canton Zurich) and Tuggen SZ (canton Schwyz). Multiple dates available throughout the year.
The English WAB courses are held at our partner driving schools: Transportschule AG in Pfäffikon ZH and Verkehrszentrum Tuggen AG in Tuggen SZ. Experienced instructors will guide you through all aspects of safe driving in Switzerland — entirely in English.

What to bring
Valid driving licence, vehicle in safe operating condition (each participant needs their own vehicle). Rental vehicle included in the price.
Duration
One full day, 09:00–17:30. The course covers both theoretical and practical elements.

What is the WAB course and why is it required? ▼
The WAB course (Weiterausbildung Autofahren – advanced driving training) is a mandatory course for new drivers in Switzerland. It teaches essential skills for safe driving and is required by law to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by inexperienced drivers.
Who has to complete the WAB course? ▼
The WAB course is compulsory for all new drivers aged 18 and over who receive their first category B (car) driving licence in Switzerland. The course must be completed within 12 months of passing the practical driving test.

The English WAB course takes place at two locations: Transportschule AG, Barzloostrasse 9, 8330 Pfäffikon ZH (canton Zurich), and Verkehrszentrum Tuggen, Betti 80, 8856 Tuggen SZ (canton Schwyz). Both locations are accessible by car and have parking on site.
Do I need to bring my own vehicle? ▼
No — the course fee includes a rental vehicle. If you prefer to use your own car, that is also possible. Each participant needs their own vehicle for the practical parts of the course.
What happens if I don't complete the WAB course in time? ▼
If you do not complete the WAB course within 12 months of receiving your driving licence, your licence automatically becomes invalid. You will no longer be permitted to drive until you have completed the course.

Is the WAB course certificate valid for life? ▼
Yes, the WAB course certificate is valid for life. It is a one-time requirement during the probationary period. After completing the course, you will receive confirmation for your records.
Can I reschedule or cancel my registration? ▼
Yes, rebookings and cancellations are possible in accordance with the GTC. They must be made at least 5 working days before the course start to avoid fees. Email fahrtraining@transportschule.ch for changes.
